Buying an Apple product used to be a fairly straightforward affair. Now it's gotten so complicated that an entire YouTube industry has been built around trying to untangle the myriad overlaps and options. Problem here is that after watching this video I am even more confused than I was before.

No, there IS a difference in ports: • MacBook Pro with M4 has 3 (up from 2) Thunderbolt 4 ports • MacBook Pro with M4 Pro or M4 Max are equipped with Thunderbolt 5 (up from Thunderbolt 4)

I've got the M4 Pro Max pre ordered, 128GB RAM and 8TB Storage. Excited to push it

I work in the medical device industry and do a lot of simulation and 3D rendering so I opted to go with a 14" (for portability) M4 Max with the 16-Core CPU, 40-Core GPU option and 64GB of ram. Overkill for sure, but I don't even want to think about upgrading for the next 6 years or so, so the premium is worth it for me. Everyone's mileage will vary though, it really depends on the specific use cases.

In Germany you had to pay 4.699 € for the M4 Max 16C CPU 40C GPU model. That's insane. Why is it so much more expensive here? Pretty stupid marketing in my eyes.

Many people are eager to see a comparison between the 14-inch 12-core and 14-core models. Creating such content could attract a significant number of views and provide valuable information to others.
Currently, no video is available for this comparison.

I am looking for 16 inch Macbook Pro and wondering if upgrade to 48GB worth it by paying around 400$. I have RAM intensive coding work and usage is generally 20GB in my current machine.

Hi! Thank you so much for your interesting video. I need some advice. I'm a video maker and I'm thinking of getting a nice Mac Pro to speed up my work. I'm undecided between these two configurations:
M4 pro: 16"² Liquid Retina XDR display Apple M4 Pro chip with 14-core CPU, 20-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine 48GB of unified memory 2TB SSD drive
M4 Max: 16"² Liquid Retina XDR display Apple M4 Max chip with 14-core CPU, 32-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine 36GB of unified memory 2TB SSD drive
Which of these two could be more useful to me?
Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't really say that Apple is "Forcing" you to this much memory that you stress a lot in this video. This is unified memory and the larger and smaller gpu core counts is what would be determining the amount of memory you get. GPU cores need a specific amount of memory dedicated to them in order to perform operations correctly. GPUs process data differently than a CPU where memory can be a bit more flexible. GPUs don't necessarily have this luxury and need more specific dedicated amounts of memory to compute properly.
