I’ve been shopping at IKEA (sometimes with my designer friend) for years. I like the clean, simple lines that look high end if used properly.I use the Merete curtain in floor to ceiling length. I bought a large wool rug about 20 years ago that still looks great and is larger than what they sell these days and a similar tug at design store costs almost $1000! .

By the time you double, triple and quadruple everything, you are spending the same amount you would at a finer furniture store

I think it’s a really good video but I think you might not understand or forget to mention that Ikea mainly designs for European homes. They are much, much smaller than American homes and so yes, every room needs to work hard and all space is necessarily efficient. The scale is correct for small spaces - generally Ikea isn’t designing for large luxury homes.

I'm too poor to consider the feelings of people that live their dream with a creative career. I'm too busy trying to make my apartment in the projects look better to try to fight off depression.

Upsizing accessories is a great tip for me! One of my fondest memories from childhood are my mom's ceramic figures and other beautiful objects dispayed in shelves. I find I am a magpie myself, and too many small objects creates a cluttered feel that's been bugging me. Sometimes you feel what's off, but can't see it -- now I see it!

For most working class people in Britain, finding furniture that will fit in and not overwhelm our very small homes is the problem. Only wealthy people buy furniture and lots of stuff purely to fill their large rooms, and they don’t really go to Ikea.

I think Ikea keeps the scale of their products small, and their shelves packed so the "look" appeals to those of us who own a lot of stuff... And so Ikea can sell more. 🤔

The furniture isn‘t too small, it‘s your giant American houses which are too big! 😆

If you double everything, it's not cheap anymore.
