Is it time to get rid of the terms "left wing" and "right wing?"

The US has no true left wing. Today, the democratic party is a right-wing party; just not a far right as the republican party. They are both capitalist parties enacting neoliberal and neoconservative legislation. The Democratic party simply co-opts actual left wing talking points in an attempt to appear different from the republican party. In reality, they're both playing the same game in favor of their corporate donors.

Its really funny to scroll through the comments section and see people going "Nuh uh!!! You're totally wrong, this is MY definition of left and right and mine is the one that is objectively correct!" meanwhile they all disagree with eachother. Like yeah, you are the special boy-genius, you, the main character, are secretly the one who has the objectively perfect definition of left and right wing, and everyone else is just dumb for not realizing that its actually very clear and simple. The idea you came into this video with, and did not challenge or contemplate at all when presented the information in this video, thats the correct one. Oh and don't worry that it might differ based on context, region, era, etc. No your blanket definition actually describes the left and right as it exists across all of time and space. Congratulations.

Left and right generally mean whatever the speaker wants them to mean. If you support the status quo you generally decide your "radical left" opponents. If you support change you generally decide your "authoritarian right" opponents.
Except that "the right" currently are advocating radical changes and "the left" are currently advocating the status quo.

Does anyone else see it as odd the left wanting more government is seen as less authoritarian, and the right wanting less government is somehow more authoritarian. The way each side characterizes the other tells me more about them than the other. Good thing most of us are moderate and reasonable. 😂

5:35 the more you learn the more you realise they're just used for the divide and conquer tactic. Divide the people, claim the land.

The first graphic was made on the false presuposition that the nazis were right wing. Their leader said quote "it's a syncretic movement", and the economists back then, even the few marxist ones said it was a socialistic type of economy. Their only right attribute was that they were fighting communist soviets.

This dichotomy was dying as you made the video. The left is anti-equality, and very much not egalitarian these days.
